Why the compass

One origin, many bearings.

A norwind is a wind from the north. Everything we do leaves from the same origin: one team, one platform, one standard. Each service and each product is a bearing off it, plotted on a compass card rather than numbered in a list. Products take the eastern arc, services the western. The arc past the last entry is left open, on purpose, for whatever comes next.

It is a picture of how the company works, not a decoration. When we say every engagement is held to one standard, the card is what that looks like.

What we hold to

Four things, in every piece of work.

One standard: The same review, test bar and deploy path for a client's system and for our own product. There is no B tier.
Operated, not shipped: We keep running what we build. Nothing we make is a launch and a shrug.
Plain: Say what the thing does. No adjectives doing the work of verbs, in our copy or in our commit messages.
Hired by engineers: Every engineer we place is interviewed and tested by our senior team. Recruiting is engineering work here.
